To bring the facility up to current standards, the College determined its main dining hall and supporting food court within the student union building required a total renovation. Input for the design was derived from in-depth, open-forum meetings with students, staff and alumnae to assure that the new facility would fully meet the needs of all constituents. Renovations included a new food court with vibrant accent lighting and the college seal in the terrazzo floor, a group dining room that can be separated from the main dining room with a folding glass wall, and lounge seating surrounding a new gas fireplace. Cherry flooring, wood ceilings and engraved seating were selected to layer a traditional collegiate feel over the building’s modern architecture. Flat-screen televisions throughout the space are networked together for daily use and for multi-media productions during large formal functions.
