Surrounded by stately residences in historic Doylestown, the addition to the Central Bucks High School strikes a graceful balance between a harmonious scale with the adjacent residential neighborhood and a civic scale appropriate for school architecture.
The traditional style of the existing school, with its clock tower and entrance portico, is reflected in the new two-story classroom wing. Three entrances with double columned porches below and classic gables above feature civic scale windows and traditional lantern lighting.
The “implied chimneys” at the end elevations mimic a residential style of architecture. Buff-colored cast stone also adds rich detail to the red brick façades.
