Breslin Architects received a “Special Citation” for the design of this project from the American Institute of Architects/Eastern Pennsylvania.
The new building is a joint venture of the Chester County Intermediate Unit and Delaware County Community College for the purpose of providing a career training facility in Southern Chester County.
This facility features classrooms, technology labs, shops, library, faculty and administrative offices, cafeteria, fitness center, and incorporates many state-of-the-art security measures.
The exterior of this modern building was designed to harmonize with the traditional architecture of the surrounding countryside. The design incorporates a multi-colored brick pattern, sloped metal roof, an arcade with limestone piers, and a large arched window which identifies the entrance to the building.
The 78 acre site was developed to provide outdoor ecology and environmental study areas, parking for 115 cars, and multi-purpose fields for community recreation and physical education.
