This elementary school accommodates 650 students in the 5th and 6th grades.
The project incorporates numerous environmentally friendly features such as projected window sunscreens that reduce the cooling load, a geothermal heating and air-conditioning system, and abundant natural daylighting in all classrooms providing energy savings as well as supporting the concept of sustainable design.
The new school is organized with a two-story grouping of classrooms to the left of the main entrance and the shared use/community related facilities such as the gymnasium, cafeteria, and library to the right, thus permitting easy access for the public.
The building’s exterior features a “patterned” brick masonry that is accented with limestone. A paved plaza with benches and landscaping marks the building’s entrance and provides an inviting appearance to the students.
