Using a “minimalist” design concept, Breslin Ridyard Fadero Architects established a new image for this school by placing the laboratory addition in front of the existing building.
The two-story red brick and limestone façade is articulated in form expressing the individual laboratories. Sunscreens are projected over each south facing laboratory window wall.
The fifteen “state-of-the-art” laboratories and related facilities cluster around a central skylighted atrium linking the science building addition to the existing school. The atrium features a monumental stair that provides direct access from the “old school” to the upper level laboratories.
The project also included renovations to the cafeteria and conversion of the former undersized labs into classrooms.
