“The ADA Accessibility and Wellness Infrastructure Project at Radnor High School” addresses outdated and inaccessible athletic facilities at Radnor High School with a multi-prong approach including site improvements, new construction / additions, and major renovations of the existing high school.
Sitework improvements include extensive upgrades to Prevost and Encke Fields, the two main stadium facilities at the school, including new entrance plazas, ADA parking, turf and track replacement, new bleachers, and ADA walkways and ramps that are designed to be fully integrated into the overall design of the project. These generously sized circulation paths of ramps and landings overlook the fields inviting both passage and pause for all visitors to experience together.
A new fully accessible 9,500 SF field house will be located in between Prevost and Encke Fields. The upper level of the field house will serve as an open-air viewing concourse with dramatic views of both fields. The lower level of the field house will include new team rooms, trainer’s room, public restrooms, and concessions.
Renovations to the existing high school include major upgrades to the natatorium including all new pool equipment, a new source capture exhaust system which will greatly improve the air quality within the natatorium, pool deck replacement, and locker room renovations. In addition a new entrance lobby will provide direct access to the natatorium.
A two-story addition upgrades the existing athletic wing with field level access to the football locker room, team rooms, public restrooms, and trainer’s room. Classrooms and a new 4,500 SF fitness room will be located on the upper level providing a panoramic of Prevost Field.
