Breslin Architects received an “Award of Merit” from the American Institute of Architects Eastern Pennsylvania for the design of this project. The expansion involved a new gymnasium, locker rooms, team rooms, and fitness center addition, plus a 40,000 square foot single story wing of science and other specialty classrooms.
Renovations involved converting the existing gymnasium to a cafeteria and food court plus conversion of the former kitchen/cafeteria to state-of-the-art band, choral, and other music facilities.
A feature of the design is a sky-lit concourse that serves the assembly and public areas of the school such as the large gymnasium, fitness center, cafeteria, and existing auditorium.
The major exterior materials are brick and limestone that harmonize with the existing building and which are accented by an aluminum panel system placed above the main entrance.
