This project replaces two aging elementary schools with a new 100,000 square foot K-6 school on the same campus with the Middle School/High School. To meet Warrior Run School District’s goals for the project, the ideal location for the new school is also the most challenging with a 60’ elevation change across the site. Breslin Architects solution is a school that integrates with the slope of the site. The 3-story academic wing provides a dedicated area for Kindergarten on the 1st floor with direct access to their own playground. On the 2nd and 3rd floors, learning is on display with windows between the Corridors and Classrooms. At the heart of the Academic Wing are Collaboration Spaces and Small Group rooms to support 21st Century Learning. The 3rd floor features a bridge to an Outdoor Classroom and walkway to the Middle School. The shared use and public spaces, including Administration, the Multi-Purpose Room, Library, Large Group Flex Room, Music, Art, and STEM, are organized around a central 2-story skylit Lobby featuring a Learning Stair. Breslin Architects worked closely with the School District on the site design which includes an inner campus bus loop and new Baseball, Softball, and Practice Fields. The existing Football Stadium is being transformed to a Multi-Sport Stadium with a new synthetic turf field and 6-lane track.
