Breslin Architects received an “Excellence in Architecture” award for the design of this building from the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
The project involved the construction of a new High School on the site of an existing High School. Although the original 1914 building was deemed no longer feasible to maintain, subsequent additions which housed a gymnasium and support facilities were considered viable structures and therefore were requested by the client to be connected with the new building via an elevated pedestrian bridge.
The new three-story structure contains a library, a 700 seat auditorium with stage and fly space, 37 classrooms with state-of-the-art computer, business, science, and technology laboratories, and a kitchen/cafeteria complex.
Site development included a new football stadium with an all-weather running track, parking for 220 cars, and a 5,000 square foot maintenance building.
